Yoga Meditation in Singapore

Hello everyone!  I’m Janet, the Founder of Janet Yoga Hut as well as Janet Yoga Spirit.  If you have read “About Me”, you must have learn about my background.  I’m a freelance Yoga Teacher since year 2004.

Today I would like to share with you about my Yoga Meditation Class.  You may also like to learn more about what is meditation in my another blog post too.

My Meditation Journey

By chance, I have come across Raja Yoga Meditation in year 1995.  That is my first taste of meditation.  I have practice it for a short period only before I start to get too busy with my work and social life.

I started to pick up meditation again in year 2006 by doing self meditation after I’m into yoga practice for a few years.  Along the way I have read alot of books about meditation and also have attended a number of meditation classes.  And in the end I still go back to my self meditation.proud-warrior-by-janetng

For years of meditation, one day I just realise I can do self healing through meditation.  Because many times when I’m in any pain or unwell, I realise it is reduced or recovered when and after meditation.  I can actually sense my energy move in my body during meditation without controlling it.  The energy will know what to do itself and do self healing to my body.

I have also learnt that meditation is not just restricted to sitting down with your eyes close only.  You can also do meditation while you are standing or lying down or even you are holding at a yoga pose!

One of my experience in many many years ago while I’m practising yoga in a Hatha Yoga class conducts by my yoga teacher.  My yoga teacher like to make us hold the postures long from 35-40 second. During one of the session while I’m holding at the Proud Warrior pose, I suddenly come to an experience I have never experience before.

Instead of feeling stuggling and heavy while holding the pose, I just suddenly feel light, easy and calm at the pose. I can actually just stay on there at the posture if I want to.  It’s like I am meditating into the posture.

Maybe this is what we said I have become the posture and the posture has become me. There is no different between the posture and me.  The “I” is no longer exist just for that moment.  It’s really a great experience!

Quantum Physics – Everything Is Energy

Everyone of us has self healing power.  This explain why when our skin get cut, it will heal itself!  This self healing energy will increase as we do meditation.  Everything is energy.  This new science accepts that the universe, including us, is made up of energy.

THERE IS A THINKING STUFF FROM WHICH ALL THINGS ARE MADE, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.  A person can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon formless substance can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.

Therefore, what in our thought is very important.  You think you can do it, you can.  You think you cannot, then you cannot.  This explain why positive energy will attract positive energy and negative energy will attract negative energy. Remember, everything is energy including our thought.  So watch your thought.  Thought come first which will be follow by speech and action.

Through all these experience, I have come to realize a more effective way for beginner to start on meditation.  As I have learnt that it is very difficult for a newbie to sit for just 5 min for meditation.  Because all of us have a chatter mind!

So it is a matter how to focus and stay onto the NOW and don’t get carry away by our chatter mind.  Because most of the time our chatter mind are giving us limitation and negative thought which lead to stress.

Our mind is actually very powerful.  And we have a choice to choose how we want to think,  positivity  or  negativity.

Yoga Meditation Techniques

There is no such thing as good or bad yoga meditation techniques.  To someone it might be a good techniques because it does work well for him or her but to others might not.  Therefore it depends on individual.  We have no right to judge.  Eveyone of us are unique and different.  This explain why everyone of us have different experience.

Although when we breakdown our body cell, we all are made up of the same particles.  Everything is made up of atoms. And science has proved that Atoms are not the smallest particles in existence.  Atoms themselves are made up of much smaller particles. We are just one of those smallest particles.

And how these smallest particles are being connect together will create many different form, whether physical or non-physical. This explain why everyone of us are unique and different!

Before we start to learn how to sit for meditation, we need to bring the body and mind connection first.  Yoga is the union of body, mind and soul.  When the body and mind are connected, you will be able to sit longer for meditation without get carry away easily by your chatter mind.

A techniques that will help to prepare the body, breathe and mind into connection first before we really sit for meditation.  In fact, the meditation already begin the moment when we start doing some yoga stretch to prepare the body with your breathe.  Yoga stretch can help to stimulate all your different chakra energy.

Now is the time to sit for meditation.  You will also learn how to use your nature sound energy meditation to stimulate and relax your body and mind including the internal organs and other meditation techniques which will help to bring back your chatter mind back to focus.

As long as you stay focus and concentrate in the present of what you are doing now and at the same time observe the feel of your body with your breathe energy and stretch without any force or controlling or judgement, your meditation journey begin.  Just learn to let go and free yourself from identity!  Learn to listen to your body too.

There is no yoga background requiry therefore it is suitable for everyone.

Small Size Class

The benefits of small class size are that every student can receive more attention from the teacher and also help them to have a feel of exclusive and privacy.  They will find that it is easier to relax, focus and concentrate when the class size is small.

Therefore in turn you will actually receiving more value from the small size class.  You can also build better bond with your other fellow learners too.

Environment is important for meditation too.  A clean and quiet environment is best for meditation so that you can focus, concentrate, relax and feel good.

Of course the best is in the nature with fresh air which is the best energy environment!  This explain why there are people going for retreat in order to unplug, de-stress and recharge themselves.

Hi, meditation is such an important subject. I feel I really need to learn to quiet my mind sometimes, as it is indeed a chatter mind that never rests.
It’s good to know that meditation can also be done by lying down, I didn’t know that. When I try to meditate sitting down, I find myself sinking in thoughts. So I will try lying down.
    Thank you for this post!

Hi Michael. Thank you for your sharing. Yes, you can try lying down but make sure you don’t fall asleep…:-) Usually lying down meditation is good for people who is suffering some pain when sitting which make them difficult to concentrate while in pain. Meditation is actually a state of mind. If your problem is chatter mind, you can try different method that help you stay focus on to in order to prevent your mind start wondering away. Eg like focus on your breathe or focus on a candle light infront of you when you know your mind start wondering away. Until your mind is quiet then you can close your eyes again. Or you can start with some sound meditation to help you focus first. Just try anything to help you to focus onto to keep your chatter mind away. Until you find something that work for you…:-)

Awesome information. The quantum physics-everything is energy post really stuck out for me. I absolutely love learning about it and 100% agree! It’s only limitations and negative thoughts that hold us back. Surround yourself with positivity
Thanks for the great read Janet
